Morning On The Lake

Camera: Holga 120N
Film: Kodak Portra 400
Location: Mallard Marsh Campground – Hosmer Lake, Oregon

The brain is a wonderful organ; it starts working the moment you get up in the morning and does not stop until you get into the office.
-Robert Frost

Funny how waking up before dawn to catch the sunrise or hit the trail never seems to be an issue on a weekend or during vacation, yet getting up for work proves to be a bit of a challenge five days a week. Robert Frost’s quote illustrates the brains ability to function in different situations perfectly, something I’m sure everyone can relate to.

  1. Just beautiful Jeff. What a great shot with the Holga and Portra no less!! Lovely morning light.

    • Thanks so much. I’m always amazed at what you can create with a Holga. Its little plastic body and lens gets a bad reputation as a ‘don’t think just shoot’ camera to often in my opinion.

      • I agree. I love mine and am always amazed at the images I can create. I love the way they all have different vignetting and light leaks. I like taking a break from thinking about settings too.

  4. The quote really made me smile! Thanks 😀
Your image is exquisite, Jeff! Wonderful mood and colors.
The Holga is a great camera, I just love mine, and it is quite easy to get very personal expressions with it.
    Have a wonderful day!

    • Isn’t that quote perfectly state our feelings as we head off to work in the morning? Thanks for the kind words, I still think back quite often to the morning I took this image a few summers ago. Watching the sun rise up over the mountain top was well worth waking up before dawn.
